Bit By Bit, Afghanistan Rebuilds Buddhist Statues
www.npr.org"The Taliban destroyed the historic statues a decade ago. But in a painstaking process, the two giant carvings of Buddha are being reconstructed on the side of a cliff in central Afghanistan."

-- Destroying something so amazingly majestic as this, because it's from 500ad... before your religion was born, is unforgivable and detestable on a level ALMOST equal to that of any "human" tragedy in recent years. I hope when we and the U.S. finally get every last person outta there, that the Afghanis will remember the glimpse of freedom from repression and fight back with the same iron fist that has dominated them for so long.

(we will always have ppl and bases over there, but when they no longer see us as occupying....I hope they will take strength from the wave of revolution that has swept Africa and the middle-east for the last 6 months or so) oh...and same applies to Iraq.

  2. and of course, my favourite candidate for revolution...Iran. Although I can't see how it can be done. Whether it's the ppl rising up from within, or an attack from the outside. If that happened it would make Syria, Egypt and Libya(collectively) seem like child's play.
